About my ratings

Perhaps because of my day job, I'm a tough rater. Everything 3/5 and above I consider worth the time and money. If I purchase on Etsy or a similar platform and the puzzle is as expected, I will give a top rating on the platform because of how seller ratings work, but here "as expected" is probably a 3/5 in most cases.

Left Bank Afternoon, Linnea Pergola

Liberty, 572 pieces.  Very person-heavy in whimsies, as you'd expect for a populated Paris scene. I liked the windswept ones the best.  3/5

The Great Wave off Kanagawa, Hokusai

Nautilus. Every cutter, it seems, does this one--here Nautilus has a number of Japanese/ocean-themed whimsies, some of them multipiece.  The bonsai was a nice thought but makes for a pretty shapeless whimsy, especially when multipiece; I liked the fish and the boats, and the crane was also elegant once put together.  3/5

Flowers Fury Blossom in Beauty and Fascination

Hartmaze, 246 pieces. They've upped the price a bit but this is still a very good deal for a laser-cut puzzle. Small pieces with almost random shapes and an irregular edge, as well as a bunch of wild patterns, make for a good challenge.  3/5

Mandala (rainbow)

Turtleteasers, 151 pieces. This one was nice because there were sections featuring different cutting styles--"wings," heart-shaped knobs, regular knobs, and in-and-out knobs.  3/5

Illusion of stacked cubes

Crowprints, 340 pieces.  These are thick, well-cut strip-cut-ish puzzles that can be relatively challenging where the colors are subtle--here, the colors provide good guidance but also shade just enough to keep me working.  3/5

Katerina Mertikas, Another Goal

Stumpcraft, 424 pieces.  Stumpcraft distinguishes itself from the other laser cutters on the market with a piece style that's not just wildly varying but also quite inventive. I particularly like the pieces that look like they might be part of a multipiece whimsy, but aren't--or partial whimsies.  This time there are also a few connectors that are shaped like relevant objects--there's a mitten at one corner and (in the closeup pictures below) a few other things.  There are many, many hockey- and winter-themed whimsies, including birds with musical notes in them (?). I flipped it over for better visibility on some of the multipiece whimsies, especially that Zamboni.  The puzzle is cut tightly enough that the hockey sticks didn't fall out! 3/5

Mediterranean Shores

Penelope, 1500 pieces (1 missing). OK, this is about as big a puzzle as I can comfortably do.  The pieces were often tiny! I love the Penelope cutting style but it took forever because there were a lot of areas where the coloring was basically the same.  3/5
