About my ratings

Perhaps because of my day job, I'm a tough rater. Everything 3/5 and above I consider worth the time and money. If I purchase on Etsy or a similar platform and the puzzle is as expected, I will give a top rating on the platform because of how seller ratings work, but here "as expected" is probably a 3/5 in most cases.

Full of Love & Vibrant Love

Nook, 70 pieces: Cute and small; might make a nice host/ess gift.

Vibrant Love, Nook, 354 pieces: I decided to see if I liked the Nook puzzles better with slightly smaller pieces (the ones I got before were oversized).  As it turns out, they still aren't working as well for me as other cutters, and some of the fiddly pieces were easily broken--I'm looking at you, left petal of the rose whimsy repeated 4 times in this puzzle.  Not bad, but clearly not where I'm getting my best puzzling.

Miss Masque: Exciting Comics

Nook, 263 pieces.  Unusual subject matter and comic-themed whimsies make this one fun--I really liked the cut-out "Boom" etc. comic "sound effects."  3/5

Orchidaceae, Ernst Haeckel

Nook, 268 pieces. This popular puzzle image is paired with multipiece orchid whimsies.  After a few different Nooks, I think I might have liked the design of the first one best, with its large internal image/outline.  The repeating whimsies are fine, but ultimately less of my thing.  3/5

Spring Flowers

Nook, 318 pieces.  Floral-themed, obviously, with some nice pools of color to guide assembly.  3/5

Stink Bug Bench

Nook, 330 pieces.  With the partial exception of the Farm Truck puzzle, the Nook puzzles I've done have as their main distinctive feature repeating whimsies that echo the puzzle's visuals: here it's bugs. Very bright colors. 3/5

Artmatic

Nook, 216 pieces. I've inferred that getting the "large" Nook size doesn't get you more pieces, just bigger pieces.  I wish they'd list piece counts on the website--it's on me for not confirming that, but it's also more common for larger sizes to have larger piece counts.  That said, this puzzle has some really nice whimsies. If that's Serenity, I will forgive almost all.  3/5

Farm Truck

Nook Puzzles, 376 pieces.  Another new cutter, a US-based laser cutter.  Thickness comparable to Liberty, but I would say the whimsies are more like Wentworth--somewhat less detailed in the edges.  Also, very notably, the pieces and thus the puzzle are a lot larger--they're like the Liberty large cut, which may provide a new option for people who can't deal with lots of fiddly little pieces. The resulting puzzle was therefore also large, despite the moderate piece count.  The other different feature is that there's a really big outline of a truck in the pieces--so big I wouldn't even call it a multipiece whimsy.  3/5

Some repeating whimsy shapes in the corn up in the sky--the upper edge of the truck outline is just above the treeline in the picture
