About my ratings

Perhaps because of my day job, I'm a tough rater. Everything 3/5 and above I consider worth the time and money. If I purchase on Etsy or a similar platform and the puzzle is as expected, I will give a top rating on the platform because of how seller ratings work, but here "as expected" is probably a 3/5 in most cases.

Colorado Autumn, Peter Kunasz

Artistry, 141 pieces. It's been a while, but Artistry is still well-done. 3/5

Roman Art Marine Life Mosaic of 2d Century B.C. Naples, Italy

Artistry, 494 pieces.  Very difficult puzzle mostly due to limited color scheme, with fish/whale/dolphin whimsies, some of them multipiece. I liked the swirly connectors between the parts of the whimsies.  3/5

Landscape with House and Plowman by Van Gogh 1889, artistry

500 pieces.  Another fun one--the colors ran into each other in ways that made putting it together a pleasant challenge.  3/5

whimsies: many many birds and some boats

whoops I had it upside down; note flock of ducks at bottom

done!

Haeckel, Botanical Illustration 1904, Artistry

350 pieces.  The image made this one fun to do--just complicated enough to keep me intrigued.  3/5

Bluebells at Dockey Wood on the Ashbridge Estate, Artistry

500 pieces.  Elaborate multi-piece trees take center stage here--that created some interesting surfaces.  3/5

Geraniums by Childe Hassam, Artistry

576 pieces. The other Artistry puzzle that just didn't work for me; I found the picture too muddy.  Nice whimsies though--a good illustration of the multi-piece whimsies that make Artistry different from most Liberty puzzles.  2/5

Black Cat On Windowsill by Konstantin Korovin, Artistry

Unfortunately, sometimes a picture just doesn't work well for me.  Here, I'm not sure whether it's the print or the underlying colors, but the colors were just so muddy that I didn't really enjoy the experience.

Gustav Klimt, The Kiss, Artistry

502 pieces.  A classic for a reason.  (Other than being in the public domain, that is.)  3/5

Sailboats on the River Scheldt, Artistry Puzzles

Artist: Theo Van Rysselberghe, 510 pieces.  I did this from the bottom (or was it the top?) up, which proved interesting.  Multipiece whimsies included several sailboats (visible at top).  3/5
starting out

getting closer; salboats incorporated

Almost done

Complete, with a different orientation
The bird flying in the top right corner isn't supposed to be highlighted, but the laser cutting leaves enough marks that it stands out--Artistry does a lot of little frilly bits that require a looser cut than Liberty.

Hummingbird Illustration, Ernest Haeckel, Artistry

493 pieces. Birds!  This was the first Artistry puzzle I've done that arrived with a broken piece--one of the very thin hummingbird beaks snapped off.  Certainly a risk with pieces that narrow.  3/5
starting out

closeup on the whimsies, mainly birds
