About my ratings

Perhaps because of my day job, I'm a tough rater. Everything 3/5 and above I consider worth the time and money. If I purchase on Etsy or a similar platform and the puzzle is as expected, I will give a top rating on the platform because of how seller ratings work, but here "as expected" is probably a 3/5 in most cases.

Turtle Teasers Competition Puzzle

Turtleteasers, approx. 100 pieces. Identical images and the standard Turtleteasers cut make this challenging to separate out, but fun. 3/5

Red River, Sarah Pickett

TurtleTeasers, 169 pieces. Really hard because of the very subtle differences in parts of the image. 3/5

Dahlia, Steven N. Meyers

TurtleTeasers, 295 pieces. Very difficult because of the slowly changing image--as it gets toward the edge, it gets harder and harder to distinguish placement. The characteristic TurtleTeasers style is there. 3/5

Snowy Forest, Melissa Lipton

Turtleteasers, 161 pieces. Small but vicious! Limited colors with only slightly varying intensity across the puzzle make it a challenge, with four turtle whimsies in the corners. 4/5

Fanciful Fish, Peter Barrett

TurtleTeasers, 251 pieces. Delightful hand-cut puzzle with fun image. The soccer fish was my favorite. 4/5

Peacock closeup

Turtleteasers, 170 pieces.  I love peacocks and I love intricately cut pieces, so it was a good combo!  3/5

Blue Chrystanthemum

TurtleTeasers, 151 pieces.  Very hard for its size!  I like the elaborate geometric cutting of the tiny pieces.  3/5.

Dark Side of the Moon (Nasa image)

TurtleTeasers, 55 pieces.  Nice little puzzle--a good intro to this cutter's style.  3/5

The Perfect Pattern

TurtleTeasers, 101 pieces. A very good example of this cutter's style, with an image that makes it pretty challenging to identify the small differences in the small pieces. Sadly, I failed to take a picture of the entirely unassembled puzzle, but you still get a good sense of what it's like, I think.  3/5

Mandala (rainbow)

Turtleteasers, 151 pieces. This one was nice because there were sections featuring different cutting styles--"wings," heart-shaped knobs, regular knobs, and in-and-out knobs.  3/5

Antori Pannco, Great Horned Owl

280 pieces, TurtleTeasers.  Acrylic instead of wood.  This is one of those where I'm glad I took the chance and did it, because it was interesting, but I like the feel of wood much more and having done it I feel no need for a repeat.  Acrylic is a bit less forgiving, and yet it was almost harder to figure out whether I had the piece seated right.  I guess I'm a creature of habit.  3/5

Vincent van Gogh, Wheatfield with Crows

236 pieces, TurtleTeasers: I like the bright colors, which interact with the unusual TurtleTeasers piece shape to interrupt the eyelines.  4/5

Portrait of Armand Roulin, Vincent Van Gogh

Turtleteasers, 241 pieces.  Tricky bits around the edges, with subtle color shifts.  3/5

Peach Rose, TurtleTeasers

260 pieces.  The color gradations made this really challenging.  I also liked the four turtles at the corners.  4/5
