About my ratings

Perhaps because of my day job, I'm a tough rater. Everything 3/5 and above I consider worth the time and money. If I purchase on Etsy or a similar platform and the puzzle is as expected, I will give a top rating on the platform because of how seller ratings work, but here "as expected" is probably a 3/5 in most cases.

Paul Gaugin, Landscape with Peacocks

Nautilus, 350 pieces. I don't get as much out of Gaugin images as the Impressionists; maybe it's something about the brushstrokes. 3/5

Jungle Dreams, Hiroo Isono

Nautilus, 180 pieces. Smaller pieces than I usually see in a Nautilus. Related to low piece count? 3/5

Derold Page, Joys of a Lifetime

Nautilus, 332 pieces. Standard Nautilus spiky cut, colorful as you'd expect. 3/5

Thai Dragon

Nautilus, 150 pieces. Small, relatively simple, colorful. 3/5

Blessing of the Polar Bears, Chholing Taha

Nautilus, 475 pieces. The last part of assembly--all that dark blue--was something of a challenge, but it's a lovely image. 3/5

The Silent One, John Rattenbury

Nautilus, 429 pieces. Nautilus's spiky cuts aren't my favorites, but they indisputably match certain subjects, like tigers! Steady assembly due to the areas of distinct color. 3/5

Summer Cat, Oxana Zaika

Nautilus, 533 pieces. I really like the artist (I'm a sucker for color and cats), so this was just my speed. 3/5

Google, why do you task me with upside-down images?

Moroccan Garden, Thomas McKnight

Nautilus, 476 pieces. Nautilus isn't my favorite brand--tends to be a bit too spiky--but this was a nice image with quasi-color line cutting that worked well for me. Not sure where the unassembled picture went though. 3/5

Asakusa Ricefields and Torinomachi Festival, No. 101, Hiroshige

Nautilus, 416 pieces. A nicely colored image with lots of cat whimsies. 3/5

La Primavera, Galileo Chini

Nautilus, 367 pieces. One really huge whimsy, then a bunch of Nautilus complex floral/leaves type whimsies. The busy pattern does keep you guessing even though there are also some clear areas that group together. 3/5

huge female figure in the middle of the right side of the pieces--that's one piece!

Prague Clock

Nautilus, 500 pieces. Nice colors--teal and orange, like every action movie today--make for several different assembly areas. There's a big clock whimsy though I didn't flip it. 3/5

Grand Canyon--Toroweap Twilight, Greg Clure

Nautilus, 281 pieces. Nice landscape with lots of rosiness in the sky and earth tones in the foreground that eventually reveal enough variation to guide assembly. 3/5

little mini-Southwest scene: cactus, sun, clouds

Times of the Day, Alphonse Mucha

Nautilus, 539 pieces. Fairly standard spiky-leaves-like Nautilus cut with a nice underlying image whose variations eventually appear after you stare at the pieces long enough. 3/5

Up, Hello Angel

Nautilus, 450 pieces. Bright colors with image details just a bit larger than the pieces means steady assembly for this puzzle. I apparently neglected to take a picture of the unassembled pieces though. 3/5

Space Colony, Steve Skelton

Nautilus, 522 pieces. Very busy image with details close to piece-level size making assembly difficult despite the variety in the image. 3/5

Nancy Moore, Karma Chameleon

Nautilus, 337 pieces. Nautilus has some beautiful images and, especially in its irregular-edge puzzles, some very nice piece designs. I don't know why I haven't warmed to it as much as to other brands, though maybe it's just that I really, really like the Liberty/DaVici level thickness. This is a fairly difficult puzzle because of repeated small elements in the image, and it has a lot of greenery/lizard themed whimsies. 3/5

Rowing Boats on the Banks of the Oise, Vincent Van Gogh

Nautilus, 434 pieces. I wouldn't likely try this many Nautilus puzzles without the Hoefnagel Puzzle Club; it reduces the cost enough that I am happy to try a broader range of images. This one has streaks of color while being muddy/consistent in big chunks of the rest, leading to greater challenge in the assembly. 3/5
