About my ratings

Perhaps because of my day job, I'm a tough rater. Everything 3/5 and above I consider worth the time and money. If I purchase on Etsy or a similar platform and the puzzle is as expected, I will give a top rating on the platform because of how seller ratings work, but here "as expected" is probably a 3/5 in most cases.

Odd Man Out, Michele Amatrula

Victory, 545 pieces. Another Mark Capitella cut, with his distinctive curves, which allow for ready color line cutting given the image. Because of the concentrated areas of color, this was mostly easier than the previous 2, but still quite pleasant to do. 3/5

Journey of the Magi (Detail), Bennozo Gozzoli

Liberty, 427 pieces. Classic Liberty--looks dark unassembled, but there's actually plenty going on in the image that is distinctive. 3/5

Fred Lisaius, Now and Forever

Artifact, 217 pieces. Standard Artifact with nice colors. 3/5

Russell the Reader

Stave, 455 pieces. Books and cats, the perennial puzzle subjects! This one is plenty of fun, with cute edges. Uses Stave's less common "arrow" cutting style, which I think they call fantasy. 7/10

the cats fit so perfectly around the Z's!

Peter Church, Romeo & Juliet

Elms, 326 pieces. Fun image with a lot going on that made assembly a matter of finding fine details. 6/10

The Jackalope

Fathom, 200 pieces. Fathom has mastered what FoxSmartBox is trying--making surprising cuts, including color line and Teaser-like cuts, with a laser. Handcutting still can't be beat, but I can't wait to see what will happen next.

4/5

Diamond in the Ruff

Stave, 160 pieces. Hard to show much of this without spoilers; but it was a delightful level of difficulty for me--hard but not impossible, with underlying patterns that eventually became clear. 9/10
