About my ratings

Perhaps because of my day job, I'm a tough rater. Everything 3/5 and above I consider worth the time and money. If I purchase on Etsy or a similar platform and the puzzle is as expected, I will give a top rating on the platform because of how seller ratings work, but here "as expected" is probably a 3/5 in most cases.

Cathy Carey, Resting on the Rio

Elms, 862 pieces. Really lovely colors (the fox was a nice touch) and fun to do. 8/10

some cute whimsies

Kozyndan, Ode to California

Artifact, 509 pieces. Nice colors; tiny nude figures scattered throughout but I didn't really see them as I was focused on making the colors come together. 3/5

whimsy placement (I wouldn't call it color line cutting)

note the firefighter upper right of the flying whales

Jennifer Lommers, Forest Spirits Triptych

Elms, 648 pieces. A beautifully colored and challenging puzzle with lots of internal lines, as you'd expect. 6/10

possibly upside down

Liv Wan, Africa Map

Artifact, 444 pieces. The edges, incorporating whimsies, are a standout feature of this enjoyable puzzle. 3/5

Proud as a Peacock

Stave, 500 pieces. I love peacocks as a subject matter, so this is of course going to be a good puzzle for me--an older Stave, with some tightness in the pieces, but nonetheless a pleasure. 7/10

flowers for the kitty, certainly not the snail

The Taj Mahal

Stave, 430 pieces. Another great rental puzzle with color line cutting and lots of visual interest. 7/10

1+deer half tea Y+owl+D = wonder of the world?

paired elephants!

Big Bismuth Crystal Puzzle

Nervous System, 267 pieces. A fun new style of cut from Nervous System; apparently the algorithm is the first they've used that generates dropouts, though mine didn't have them. Still, the highly irregular edge added a lot of pleasant difficulty. 3/5
