About my ratings

Perhaps because of my day job, I'm a tough rater. Everything 3/5 and above I consider worth the time and money. If I purchase on Etsy or a similar platform and the puzzle is as expected, I will give a top rating on the platform because of how seller ratings work, but here "as expected" is probably a 3/5 in most cases.

All Spruced Up, Molly Delaney

Stave Tuozzle, 50 pieces.  So wonderful--no frame, so incredibly hard but also very rewarding when you see where things have to go.  Still a struggle as I put in the last few pieces. 10/10 Stave perfection.

Superkutoramu

Nautilus, 250 pieces.   Smaller but still fun. Whimsies seem like Frankenstein + "cheesy pop culture," maybe?  A few multi-piece whimsies.  3/5

Parc Guell, Barcelona

Nautilus, 410 pieces. A new cutter for me.  Laser-cut, US-based, somewhere between Liberty & Wentworth in thickness, closer to Wentworth in whimsy style.  Could use slightly more competitive pricing--as it is, they're more expensive piece for piece than Liberty, which doesn't strike me as the best idea.  That said, the pictures are pretty, the style is new enough that I'm interested, and the quality is what you'd want from a laser-cut puzzle.  Certainly worth doing while waiting for a new Stumpcraft.  3/5

Hundred birds pay homage to phoenix

Hartmaze, 253 pieces. Another gem from Hartmaze: surprisingly challenging for its size.  Tiny pieces, if you have trouble with that.  3/5

Dinosaur Era

Hartmaze, 166 pieces.  Unbeatable price and interestingly random piece shapes.  3/5

Kaleidoscope #2

Bogarts, 465 pieces. The last of these for a while!  Lovely floral image with fun edges.  8/10 Stave scale.

Electric Fox, Phil Lewis

Liberty, 515 pieces.  Lewis makes nice colorful pictures that translate well into Liberty puzzles.  3/5

Landscape

Chesley's, 383. Interesting hand-cut puzzle with a crease down the middle, as if made from a folded poster.  3/5

Sweet 16

Bogarts, 420 pieces.  I don't know why this one isn't another "Kaleidoscope," but it's also great.  I was able to work entirely from inside to outside. 8/10

Birds, Jane Tattersfield

Liberty, 509 pieces.  Lots of bird whimsies, of course. A few interacting whimsies such as the gardener in closeup below. Wonderful colors that guide assembly--one of the best Liberties I've done in a while.  4/5

APAK, Islands of Life

Artifact, 165 pieces.  High difficulty for its size because of the elaborate borders, which had all sorts of space-related delights embedded.  3/5

Ladybugs

CrowPrints, 252 pieces. A nice puzzle with high difficulty because of the repeating images.  I forgot to take a picture of the complete puzzle, but fortunately the website picture is accurate! 3/5

Kaleidoscope #3

Bogarts, 440 pieces. Another lovely kaleidoscope puzzle, with a high level of difficulty but very pleasant to assemble as each section gave some clues about what should happen next.  Pieces are just the right thickness and very well cut to fit.  8/10 Stave scale.

No School Today

Bits & Pieces, 400 pieces.  Bits & Pieces apparently has a line of machine-cut wood puzzles; I did one and wasn't impressed, but this is the only hand-cut Bits & Pieces I've been able to find.  And it is actually a pleasant hand-cut puzzle, especially since it was selling for a relatively low price.  Whimsies weren't complicated, but it was still well worth the time.  3/5
