Stained Glass Dreidel

Stave, 575 pieces. So, if we want Judaica to be generally available, we may have to accept some good-faith attempts that don't quite get there. This is a beautiful image and up to Stave's usual standards, with steady assembly because of clear color areas. The hitch is that ... well. The whimsies treat Hanukkah as Jewish Christmas. The holiday moves around, sometimes approaching Thanksgiving, and presents aren't really as big a deal (except to help Jewish kids deal with the Christmas around them, I guess). The rebus kind of topped it off-- holly (holly! "challah" was right there!) + D + hay CH+ear, or holiday cheer, again really a Christmas thing more than Hanukkah. Scroll to the end for my husband's proposed rebus instead, which I suspect I will actually ask Stave to cut. (If you know, you know.)

  1. I note that their Chanukiah whimsy has the shamash the same height as everything else, too. (But I cannot solve your rebus. Is that a hay pile?)

    1. That is a hay pile. Hint: the last whimsy is a creature that is part of the Ten Plagues.
